Joba was doing just fine as a starter until he sustained an injury that doesn't appear to have had anything to do with being a reliever the year before. He's not been the same, as either a reliever or starter, since. People want to blame Cashman and the "new way of thinking" for Joba turning out to be nothing more than a league-average reliever, but the fact is, he's no different than any other young pitcher - one injury and all that promise flushes down the drain.
