Gonzaga only led by 3 at halftime in this opening game, and it looked like they would be in a dogfight. Then they scored the first 15 points of the second half. IPFW led by 13 at half in their game and had to hold on.
Week 2
Mercer- 84, Western Michigan- 74 (OT)
IPFW- 72, Binghamton- 66
Gonzaga- 78, Rhode Island- 68
That Mercer game was a wild one. Mercer scored 20 points in the 5 minute OT period. Had they kept that pace the whole game they would have scored 160 points! Wow. IPFW again had to hang on late, and Kelly Olynyk had 16 points and 11 boards to lead Gonzaga.
Week 3
Gonzaga- 83, IPFW- 79 (2 OT)
Western Michigan- 73, Rhode Island- 63
Mercer- 71, Binghamton- 64
Wow what a game! IPFW had 4, count em, 4 chances to win in regulation but just could not get the basketball to go down. Gonzaga stepped up the D in the second OT, holding IPFW to just 2 points and escape with a win.
