Yeah, I think it really depends, but personally I move much more around deadlines as a villager. As a wolf, especially early in the game, it's not worth it to risk saving your buddy for a day and likely link the two of you together. Especially when there is a seer out there who can scan said buddy.

Last few games (at least) we seem to be getting to the stage where it's viewed more suspicious to vote a wolf than anything else in the first couple of days. Which I still think is taking things too far.
