Because he was trying to draw the foul on a shot on a play where there wasn't a foul. Smart play by the Kansas player.
It really shouldn't have been that much time left because after the made three pointer, the Kansas player never was totally out of bounds when he in-bounded the ball.
Either way, UCLA took Kansas to the wire and while it should have been an OT game, I can live with the progress the team has made with their performance in the game. Taking the nation's 4th ranked team to the wire and almost ending their home winning streak was pretty good from my POV
