NBA Playoffs First Round Day 9

(6) Washington at (3) Charlotte

Game 5 - Charlotte leads 3-1

Arenas is back to full strength and this is the first game where the starting 5 on both sides are fully healthy. We have the chance to win the first playoff series in Bobcat history at home here today (No pressure!)

First Quarter

Yeah there is a pretty strong desire to finish this thing off. Washington's center, Schumacher, picks up 2 fouls early and it weakens their interior even more. Padgett goes 7-8 and scores 16 points in the quarter basically totally unchecked inside. Swanson scores 7 off the bench, Felton 4 and noone else over 3. Arenas scores 11 and does his best to keep up but again the supporting cast is nonexistant. Butler 6, McCants 3, thats all of Washington's scoring.

Second Quarter

We're not losing this game. Padgett has 26 points/5 boards. Felton 11, Swanson 11, no one else has more than 3. Arenas 15, Butler 11, Richardson 6 for Washington. I don't seem to be using Mayo that much, he's only 1-4, Swanson has 8 shots, Felton 7, Padgett 13. This isn't really intentional.

Third Quarter

Yup, we're not losing this game. Padgett only scores 2 in the third. He has 28 points/7 boards. Felton is the star this quarter he's now up to 23 points and 8 assists. Swanson has 11, Sparks has a double double, 10 points/10 boards. Caron Butler now leads the Wizards with 22, Arenas 20, no one else has more than 7. Mayo is 1-7, Felton and Swanson have been quicker and more aggressive and totally picked up his slack.

Fourth Quarter

10:30 to go - We're not losing this game. But Washington is going to make us earn it. They start the 4th on a 6-0 run and its 81-71.

9:10 to go - 83-76 after a 3 by Washington. Timeout Charlotte. I had 4 backups + padgett in, during the timeout Mayo gets back in.

6:30 to go - Arenas is on fire, he's hitting shots with people draped all over him, 4-8 from 3 on the game now after draining one from way deep. He's up to 30 points, and its 88-81 Charlotte.

4:05 to go - We're trading baskets, but Washington hits a 3 and cuts it to 6. Its 94-88 Charlotte.

3:00 to go - 2 empty trips for each team and we sitll lead 94-88 with 3 minutes left.

2:00 to go - 96-90, Felton with a layup, Butler with a jumper.

1:07 to go - I think we just won the game. We finally stop trading baskets, Padgett with a dunk, Caron Butler with a charge on the toher end, Felton hits a jumper and we get the lead up to 10 points with just over a minute left. Felton and Padgett both have 30+ now.

That'll do it!!
