Uesugi is 51.8% annexed. It will be a slow process, but should finish up in a couple of years. Shiba is our next target to improve relations to the point of integration. We are three years from being able to declare war on Hatakeyama. Once they entered the war with Imagawa way back when, they forfeited their Daimyo status within feudal Japan and became an independent state.

Plague!
Epidemics in the early-modern era were far deadlier than wars or even famine. Diseases that with modern medicine are relatively harmless, like smallpox or flu, took a heavy toll whenever they struck, especially among infants.

Cherry Blossom Festival
The season of the Cherry Blossoms is upon us! In every province of our Domain our people congregate at shrines and altars to pray, eat and enjoy the beauty of the season. Paper lanterns cast a warm nightly glow over our Han as we go to enjoy the festivities.

Shogun Yoshimasa sees this as proof of our good policies these last years.

Earthen Rampart (3)

In 1500, during the siege of Pisa the walls started to crumble under the barrage of French siege artillery. Local residents started to pile up the rubble outside, in form of a sloping rampart. This proved to be less vulnerable to artillery fire, while at the same time still able to resist an escalade.

Truce Ended
Years of peace are behind us. We can now declare war on Hatakeyama without any penalty, just as they may declare war on us.

Integrating Uesugi
When a smaller country gives up its independence to join a greater realm, there is a lot of adapting, and while some parts are easy, the administration of the realm will still need to expand to accommodate all possibilities.
