Yeah Microsoft started letting you do this a few years back. Once a computer has been activated, it saves a "digital ID" of your parts so that you can re-install Windows over and over on the computer without dealing with a key.
It's nice to have since some of these computer companies got a bit carried away with their bloatware. I remember buying an HP desktop like 10 years ago and there had to be 30 programs added to it.
