Blyth (0-1-0, 10th BSBN) at Corby (0-0-1, 17th BSBN)

We played the Steelmen twice two seasons ago, splitting the matches. As the media speculated in the pregame presser, we'll play this one defensively & try to come away with at least a point, 20 games & counting without a win be damned. It's a marathon, not a sprint. We'll officially debut our 5-3-2 formation and do it with mostly fresh players since we have to come back & play again on Saturday.

GK: Dovey
D: Henderson, Williamson, Sawyer, Christensen, Groves
MF: Slaughter, Morrison, Ricketts
ST: Cofie, Bembo-Leta

3' - Williamson is denied point blank after a great throw-in by Slaughter
18' - A free kick sets up a half volley goal (0-1)
34' - A free kick from outside the arc sails over Dovey (0-2)
Halftime - Sigh. Outshot 4-1, only 40% poss, only 61% passing even with instructions to play short & safe. We haven't had the ball long enough to even attempt a cross. 5 players with ratings of 5.9 or less. We move players around, switch to 4-4-2 Diamond Standard.

62' - Sub Mutero (for Ricketts)
66' - Sub Wallace (for Henderson, knocked)
75' - Groves with a free kick from the left side of the arc ... GOAL (1-2)
76' - Sub Chinthengah (for Cofie)
84' - Lennon finds space in the area off a corner & scores (1-3)
Fulltime: Corby 3 - Blyth 1
That was ugly. Outshot 9-3, only 38% poss, only 60% passing, which explains the first two stats.

Dovey 6.4
Henderson 5.8, Williamson 5.5, Sawyer 6.1, Christensen 5.6, Groves 7.3
Slaughter 6.1, Morrison 6.6, Ricketts 6.5
Cofie 6.0, Bembo-Leta 6.5
Subs: Mutero (64') 6.4, Wallace (68') 6.9, Chinthengah (76') N/A

I guess there are people having a worse day than me, England loses a friendly to Japan 3-1, at Wembley no less. Could have been a shutout but for a Wayne Rooney goal in the 89'.
