Champ Cars to be featured on History Channel__ The science of Champ Car racing is every bit as vital to the success of the series as anything that happens in the cockpit of a 750hp turbocharged open-wheel race car. The science of safety is one of the key elements in making the Champ Car World Series one of the premier racing series in the world, and the History Channel will give viewers an in-depth look at how technology helps keep drivers safe in an upcoming episode of its Modern Marvels series. The episode titled Race Track Tech, will premiere next Wednesday at 10 p.m. Eastern Time. The hour-long show will feature Champ Cars along with other racing series in a behind-the-scenes look at how technicians create the safety innovations that protect drivers. A feature interview with Champ Car team owner Derrick Walker will take viewers through what happened to his team's Reynard machine during a 2002 crash at Surfers Paradise, Australia. The episode will display how all of the safety procedures in place helped keep the drivers safe through a violent multi-car crash.
