At the end of Friday practice Coach Cody had a "get out" set for the team. For those of you who aren't swimmers a "get out" set is one where the coach says if you can do X then you can Get Out Of Y. Obviously, this can be used in a number of ways, but on Friday the deal was if everyone on the team can beat a time posted during a test set earlier in the week, then there will be no practice on Saturday. Well, unfortunately everyone didn't beat their previous time. So the coach offered one last challenge,"If anyone can beat me in a 50 breaststroke, then you can have Saturday off".

5 breaststrokers lined up opposite Cody, and they raced. Brett was the only one to beat the coach, and he did so by about a body length. He was roundly cheered and was the hero for the weekend. He was extremely pumped up about this. I'm so happy things are going well for him.
