Blue vs. White v2? - RESULTS

The overall scores are irrelevant given this was a scrimmage and many swimmers chose to do some secondary events rather than swim their primary strokes.

Bear - had a nice meet, especially with the tender shoulder/lat and it being an early in season meet.

#4 50 Fly - Session 1 - Bear's first swim of the meet and he posted a 24.92. Once kids get to be 13, the 50 fly isn't really swum anymore so this was probably an event the coach used to get an idea of who should swim fly in the medley relay. Bear's time was good for 3rd, finishing behind Noah and Ross - so no shame in that. In fact, Bear was only .24 seconds behind Ross.

#10 50 Free - Session 1 - not long after the 50 Fly, Bear was racing again in the 50 Free. This time he finished 4th, behind Noah, Hunter and Harrison - all 3 A relay swimmers. He posted a 22.67, which was a PERSONAL BEST!!! This swim was also likely good enough to get him into some sprint free relays at conference. Probably the B, but that's still better than watching them all.

#14 200 Medley Relay - Session 1 - Bear swim the fly in the relay and he split a 24.48, which is a nice time and right in line with his 50 fly above. With that swim session 1 was over.

#16 400 Free Relay - Session 2 - Bear's split in the relay was a 49.46, which is only .2 seconds off a personal best which is really close under his current condition.

#24 200 Free - Session 2 - Bear won this event with a solid 1:50.63, about a second off of his swim the previous week. Bear told me that the entire field took this race out extremely slowly. He said it was pretty much a 1650 pace it was so slow. In fact, it was so slow he had trouble kicking it into gear later in the race. This is another good performance as it hopefully strengthens his position on the 800 Free relay.

#30 400 Medley Relay - Session 3 - Bear drew the fly leg again, and his split was a 53.02, his personal best is 53.33 - so obviously he swam it well. It doesn't count as a PB because he got the rolling relay start, but that typically improves your time around .3 to .5 - so he's right on it.

#40 100 Free - Session 3 - Bear's last event was another good swim. He clocked in at 49.61, again a fraction off of his personal best time. He also finished 3rd behind Noah (who broke the pool record with his time of 45.76), and Harrison. He managed to beat Breck and Hunter, which was big (but in Hunter's defense, he did swim the 500 free at the beginning of the session.

Bear says the exercises he's been given by the trainer is helping his shoulder, hopefully it continues to improve and he can build on this strong weekend performance.
