Turn of Century came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Jesse Burkett was the sparkplug when he laced a one-base hit. Sam Crawford next to the plate and he blasted a two-run home run (his 1st of the season) resulting in a mighty exciting win for Turn of Century and the 48,182 home town fans in attendance. Turn of Century rapped out 11 hits for the night. The winning pitcher was Mathewson(3-1) who allowed 3 runs for the game. Fernando Valenzuela(1-3) suffered the loss in relief. The winning ways continue for Turn of Century. They now have a record of 8-2 in recent days. With the loss Caribbean now has a record of 9-13. Old Timers won the game with a run in the top of the 8th inning. Dan Brouthers stroked a single. Ward was safe at second on a stolen base. George Davis then lined a single scoring the run. Old Timers had 11 hits for the night while Late 20th had 7. The win went to Pud Galvin(3-1) who allowed no runs in 2 and 2/3 innings. Al Spalding was credited with his 2nd save. Roger Clemens(3-1) was the losing pitcher. By giving up 4 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings his ERA increased from 2.52 to 2.86. AL Post WWII bats were hot in the 4th inning which saw them plate 8 runs on 7 hits. AL Post WWII managed 19 in their victory. Catfish Hunter(2-1) allowed 6 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Lefty Grove(3-2) took the loss. He was unable to control the AL Post WWII offense and allowed 10 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings. Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. NL Post WWII ended up winning it in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Morgan lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' (his 4th of the season) giving NL Post WWII the victory as 26,155 happy fans celebrated wildly. NL Post WWII had 8 hits overall, while Left Outs had 5. Phil Niekro(1-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. The losing pitcher was Early Wynn(0-5) in relief. Sisler enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He tripled which scored a run in the 1st inning and doubled which was good for two runs in the 5th inning. Dead Ball Era finished with 17 hits in the victory. The victory was credited to McGinnity(2-1) who went the distance, allowing 3 runs. Bill Holland(0-1) was given the loss. He gave up 7 runs in 4 innings of work. NL PRE WWII AT FOFC Pre-Nationals... 0 0 0 1 0 1 0 0 0 - 2 4 2 All Stars....... 0 0 4 1 0 0 3 0 - 8 8 0 Win:Mighty(3-1) Loss:Hubbell(3-2) Homeruns- B.Bullock(4th), G.Gazelle(2nd) Gerald Gazelle went deep and had 3 RBI as the FOFC All Stars topped the NL Pre WWII ballclub by a score of 8 to 2 at FOFC Stadium. Al Mighty(3-1) pitched a solid game. He went 7 innings allowing 3 hits and 3 walks improving his ERA from 3.18 to 2.80. FOFC out-hit NL Pre WWII for the game, 8 hits to 4. The loss was charged to Carl Hubbell(3-2). He allowed FOFC 5 runs in 4 innings of work.
