Northern Division Meet @ Cumming Aquatic Center – 3/21-3/23

Brett will be the only one swimming this meet, as the twins will compete at the ESSZ Section Meet. Brett is swimming in the 13/14 age group (unlike State where kids just competed against kids their own age). This is also a prelim/final meet, and given Brett’s events for this one, he might log quite a few yards before the weekend is over…

400 IM – 5:20.19 – This one is being swum open (18U) and it could be fun, as some older teammates are actually seeded behind Brett…if he swims a good fly he should beat them.

200 IM – 2:36.04 – A kid Brett likes to beat (due to a Breaststroke rivalry) is seeded ahead of him. Again, fly will be a key. Right now looks like he should make the B final in this so he should be swimming it twice.

200 Breast – 2:42.45 – Actually he’s been struggling a bit with his Breast. It isn’t bad, but he hasn’t reclaimed his sharp stroke from earlier in the year. He might be hard pressed to better his time. A good goal here would be to make the A final. He’s currently seeded ninth (with the rival mentioned above right behind him in tenth)

200 Back – 2:35.40 – could make b finals here too…rival is 2 slots up, just 3 seconds faster…a good swim and Brett might catch him.

100 Breast – 1:17.71 – see 200 Breast. Currently seeded 10…so a good swim gets him in the A final.

200 Fly – NT – never done this before. He actually requested it. He’s been caught in practice several times doing 1 arm fly, which results in him having to swim 200 or 300 flys as punishment. Because he’s been swimming them as punishment he figures he can do it in a race. I don’t expect a great time, but if he finishes without a DQ, he’ll earn the IronMan award for swimming every event offered during the season. Oh, and he should make the B final as only 15 kids are signed up.

1650 Free – 20:48.55 – not sure how he’s going to go after this one. If he can swim his 1000 pace for the whole 1650, he’ll challenge for the state cut…I hope he gives it a go…

Brett also will swim the Breast in the B 200 Medley Relay...
