Vinegar or ketchup base for the sauce? Whole hog or just the shoulder? And so forth. The fault line between styles tends to run on a northeast-southwest line that roughly passes through or just to the west of the Raleigh-Durham area. On either side of that line, you pretty much announce favor for the opposing style at your own peril.
