Summary:
Liverpool defend their title in England, winning it by points over Arsenal, and also added the League Cup to their cabinet. Man City came in 3rd, with Chelsea, Everton and Tottenham coming in 4th, 5th and 6th. The pre-season concerns about Man Utd came true as they finished a lacklustre 8th. It was a surprising FA Cup final as 2 Championship sides made it and Stoke won it to celebrate their re-promotion back to the Premier League as Championship winners (106 points!).

In Italy, Palermo defended their title over Inter by 2 points. Juventus were a distant 3rd, 9 points behind Palermo. Catania won the Italian Cup but finished in 6th overall. Inter did manage to win the Euro Cup by beating Man City but that's a lesser trophy by their standards.

In Spain, Barcelona came back strongly this season to win the title by 2 points over Real Madrid. Barcelona also defended their Champions League title by beating Man Utd in the finals. Sevilla were 4th while Valencia were 5th and the 2 clubs played in the Spanish Cup finals where Sevilla edged Valencia 2-1. Hercules made a marked improvement this year, finishing 7th in the league and qualifying for the Euro Cup next season.

In France, no surprises as Lyon win their 11th consecutive title. What was surprising was the 2nd and 3rd place finish by Marseille and Evian, with Monaco dropping to 5th and PSG to 7th. PSG also lost in the League Cup finals to Marseille while Bordeux won the French Cup.

In Germany, Bayern won the double comfortably, winning the league with a 7 point margin over Leverkusen and crushing Wolfsburg in the German Cup final.
