Yeah it’s a fascinating exercise in cognitive dissonance - I think it would happen to an extent at any school, but I would love to know how many MSU fans now defending their program are ones who were vocally calling for the death penalty in the Penn State case.
It doesn’t make any sense to me but maybe it would be different if it was something I really cared about?
