You can get your life back to (near-)normal again and still grieve for the ones lost in the attack, the two aren't mutually exclusive. Actually, doing just that is the first victory you (or rather, we) ever score against the terrorists.

I understand that this is easier said than done, and that it's especially hard to do in America. However, don't for a minute think that the rest of us were untouched by the bombings. The apartment I've lived in for 4.5 years now is only 3 blocks from a police station and 4 blocks from a fire station, and my current office is right next to a hospital, so I'm so used to the wailing of sirens that I usually don't pay any attention – you could even say that I've grown deaf to that sound. But ever since last Tuesday, I've heard every single one of them.
