USA Georgia Friendly

Rico Portiere’s only reservation after the US’ 2-0 win over Georgia, ranked 29 in the world but missing out on the World Cup after finishing second in its qualifying group, was the number of goals. Lining up in a 4-2-2-2, with two center midfielders supporting two attacking wingers and 2 strikers, the US generated 19 shots, including 9 on target, while limiting Georgia to only 4 shots, with 1 on target. But some bad finishing meant that the US settled for a goal in the 47th minute by Murillo and the 50th by Cobián. Three players, Vergara, Nannini, and GK Navarra, received first caps. No injuries. The US would be ready to go, but the first match against Spain would say a lot about hopes to progress.
