Bailey - General Update

Earlier this summer I mentioned that Bailey had passed out at practice. She has passed out a few times throughout her life (I may have mentioned that before too, but this thread goes way back and I can't remember), and we've never really known why. As part of the investigation into the cause she had a stress test yesterday, and here is basically how it went.

- initial vitals showed blood pressure elevated, somewhere in the neighborhood of 140/95...

- the testing started, and after about a half hour of running, Bailey's blood pressure was 190/???

- then they had her stop and stand perfectly still. Her heart beat was around 190 initially. After about 20 seconds it dropped to 90. It was at this point that she admitted that she wasn't feeling good.

- about 2 minutes later her heart beat was 47, and she said she felt nauseous and she was seeing spots.

- they had her lay down and put her feet up and her heart beat returned to 80 almost immediately.

Basically, what the doctor told her is that her blood pressure and heart don't work in conjunction very well. That she needs to be aware of her issues, and when she exercises to never immediately just stop. It is important to continue walking around, not to stand still, so her blood pressure and heart beat can come down slowly. He also told her to drink more water and consume more salt.

We will have a follow up with her specialist soon to go over the results in more detail, and I'm sure we will discuss all of our treatment options at that point.
