Summer Swim League - week 3

In week 3 we matched up with The Polo Fields. They owere for years, ne of the worst teams in the county, but last year they hired the swim coach from the high school around the corner (and she demands her high school swimmers swim on the Summer team) and a YMCA and SA facility opened around the corner. Plus there are no other neighborhood teams on that side of town. So now, they are far and away the second best team...and we know we'll get killed...

Polo Fields - 425
CRC Stingrays - 364

-----------------------------------

Bailey

Her medley relay swam the best they ever have...posting a 1:09.50. Bailey handled the fly leg, Reese moved to breast and they were quick. They were also out touched at the wall...the freestyler couldn't hold the lead and they lost by .35 seconds

Bailey did the backstroke in the individual and she was clean through the swim...not her fastest time at 19.11 but she won by almost 3 seconds

Bailey then did the breast and it was a touch/touch situation, so close we weren't sure who won until the official results came out. Bailey swam a 20.23...her opponent was a 20.28

In the free relay the girls got a bit of revenge as they swam a best time of 1:02.02. Bailey established a lead on the opening leg and they held it.
------------------------------------------------------

Bear

Bear swim the back leg in the medley and it was a touch/touch at the wall...but the rest of the team swam well and they were able to win 1:14.55

Bear swam the IM against the best kid in the county and had a very respectible showing, posting a best time of 1:23.53, but he lost by about 2 seconds.

In the fly Bear swam against the same kid and lost by .2 of a second...

In the free relay Polo got the revenge. Bear gave the team a lead, but it was lost on the 2nd and 3rd leg and the strong anchor was unable to make up the gap, losing by 1 second

-------------------------------------------------------

Brett

Brett's relays were laughable. In both cases the other team was finished with race before the CRC team even dove in for their 4th leg...so no point in beating that dead horse with details...

Brett swam IM and did a nice job...strokes look much better, but their team is ridiculously strong here and he settled for 3rd.

Brett was also asked to swim the fly...which he did very well for him. Almost a personal best time, posting a 42.25 (best is 42.22)...

-----------------------------

Note: this meet will cost Bear the MVP for the team. Because he matched up with one of the 2 best swimmers in the county in his age group in both events and took 2nd both times, he will earn less point than Riley, who by simple luck of the draw didn't have a difficult night
