Summer League Week 4

Week 4 is a match up with the team that beat us out for the 3rd place trophy (Aberdeen). They also beat us heads up in 2011 by about 50 points. They will also be the team that we will most likely battle with for 3rd again this year at county. Before the meet I looked at the Psych Sheet and figured they'd beat us by about 10 points...as it turned out we beat them by 7...

CRC Stingrays - 400
Aberdeen Breakers - 393

--------------------------------------------------------
Bailey

The Aberdeen girls 9/10s are pretty weak. Bailey's good friend Haley is the only real good swimmer they have. The others are solid Summer swimmers, but they don't compare to our relays. Bailey swam the breast in the medley (Reese the fly) as we were looking to get a comparison on time from last week...The team won but was over 2 seconds slower. The free relay was also an easy win and the time was only slightly off their best without having anyone pushing.

Bailey swam the IM and matched up with her good friend Haley...The fly leg was touch/touch, but Haley is a sectional level backstroker and while Bailey's back is getting better she's still just borderline state level, so she fell way behind. Bailey is a better breaststroker, but she didn't seem to have the drive to chase her down...and Haley won by about 3 seconds. Bailey posted a respectable time of 1:23.xx

Bailey also matched up with Haley in the fly. Haley has a faster seed time...but the race started and Bailey out dove Haley...then held the lead for about the first 2/3rds of the race, then Haley pulled even, but Bailey out touched her. Winning by... .04
-----------------------------------------------------

Bear

Bear's relays were both winners as the Aberdeen team was good, not great at this age group. Bear swam fly in the medley and had a lead he extended off the wall. In the free, he led off and opened a good 2 body length lead. Times were good (but unfortunately two of the swimmers that typically swim the A relay for this team will not be going to county...more on that later).

Bear swam the back in individual, opened a big lead - and - you guessed it, got into the ropes. Cleaned it up to out touch his opponent...but he can't afford to do that on Saturday...

In the IM, it was a cake walk...he won by almost a full length of the pool. With no one pressing him his time suffered...but he did great...

---------------------------------------------

Brett

Brett's relays are laughable...as average as Aberdeens 10U swimmers were, the 11/12 - 15/18s are quite good. The only fortunately thing that occurred was, the A 11/12 Aberdeen Medley team was DQed because the Breaststroker had an illegal pullout. Otherwise this team finishes 3 in both free and medley relay...

Brett finished a strong second in his IM...time was similar to the previous weeks. Coasted a bit in the free because he couldn't catch first and he had a big lead on 3rd...so time could have been better

In the breast Brett also took second. The kid with the illegal pullout in the medley relay cleaned it up and won going away...of course Brett didn't even come to his shoulder so the stroke and glide for his opponent was significantly longer...

-----------------------------------------------------

Note: Bailey's loss to Haley in the IM will pretty much guarantee Reese will win team MVP. It's pretty sad, because of the 6 strokes Bailey can beat Reese easily in 4, Reese wins the Breast, and the Fly is a toss up. But unfortunately, Reese hasn't had to face other year round swimmers this season and Bailey has faced a bunch....
