Summer Swim League – GRPA State Championship
At the end of the morning session, the free relays took center stage. Bailey was up first with her C relay. Bailey got on this team in the last minute due to an undisclosed injury…in fact, 2 of the 4 swimmers on this relay (including Bailey) were replacements due to injury. The team was going to be hard pressed to make the finals. The team came in with the 3rd fastest time in the heat, and a seed time of 1:03.xx…to make the finals they would need to post a sub 60 second time…
The race started and the leadoff leg swam 14.34…and was as fast as the top seeded teams…
The second leg was an ok 15:35…this leg the team lost ground on the top two teams…
Bailey was third and she swam a very good 14.73…and passed the 2nd seeded team in the heat and pulled up on the first team…
The anchor swam a 14.34 as well and they FCT – C team finished 2nd in the heat with a time of 58.85… an over 4 second drop from the seed time and sub – 60, which should get them in…
The final heat ran, and only the top 2 seeds beat Bailey’s team…and they not only qualified for the finals but they ended up with the 5th fastest time in prelims…
