Bailey’s free relay making it to the finals gave me a bit of hope for Bear’s chances…even if he had a tougher road. Bailey’s C relay was seeded 5th going into finals, maybe Bear’s could get 8th…like the girls the boys needed to be sub 60 to have a shot at finals and Bear’s team came in with a seed time of 1:03.68

Bear’s team was in the last heat…and it appeared to me from quick figuring it would take even better than 59.5 to make it in…

The heat started and it was pretty obvious early on they weren’t going to make it in…

The leadoff leg swam around a 15.78
Followed by a second leg of 15.9, at this point the team is sitting in the back half of the heat and well over 60 second range…
Bear went 3rd and swam a strong 15.05, but he was still over the 60 second split…
The anchor swam 15.10…

Total time 1:01.83…and the team finished 5th in the heat…no way they were in…

Officially they finished 14th…and interestingly the FCT – B team swam exactly 60 seconds and they finished 12th. It took a 58.51 or better to make finals...

This was an extremely strong event this year…for perspective...Bailey's C relay that finished 5th in the girls event, wouldn't have made finals in the boys event either...
