Gold Grand Prix Meet 1 - RESULTS

-------------------------------------------------------------

Bailey Breeze

#5 (d1/s1): G 11-12 50 Fly (30.03Y) – Bailey dropped another .3 seconds, posted a 29.71 and won the event.

#49 (d1/s1): G 11-12 100 Back (1:08.58Y) – Actually added about .7 seconds (1:09.28), but still finished second overall.

#81 (d1/s1): G 11-12 100 Breast (1:27.54Y)1:27.32 – Personal Best and finished third overall

#101 (d1/s1): G 11-12 50 Free (29.31Y) – Bailey really wanted an improvement in this one. She wasn’t happy with her swim the weekend prior. She dropped almost .7 seconds and finished with a 28.63. Good enough for fourth.

Total – 10 points : By my count she finished with the 3rd lowest point total for her age group

Barrett Breeze

#6 (d1/s1): B 11-12 50 Fly (32.20Y) – I thought he looked a little stiff, but he dropped .73 and finished second overall with a 31.47

#50 (d1/s1): B 11-12 100 Back (1:11.42Y) – Dropped .36 seconds here and finished third overall – 1:11.06

#70 (d1/s1): B 11-12 50 Breast (41.08Y) – Added time in this one. Still waiting too long on the pullout before swimming. 41.62 and a fourth place finish.

#126 (d1/s1): B 11-12 200 Free (2:12.58Y) – I expected a nice improvement here, and he delivered. Dropped almost 3 full seconds (2:09.26) and won the event for the 12Us.

Total – 10 points : By my count he finished with the 3rd lowest point total for his age group

Brett Breeze

I have to tell you, I feel really bad for Brett right now. He is working extremely hard (as I outlined in my last post meet report when I talked about how much distance he is swimming), getting up early without complaint, trying very hard in practice during his laps, but his inability to focus on what he needs to improve is really holding him back. He continues to make the same mistakes he’s been making for years and it is really heartbreaking. If he could iron out just a few items, he’d drop several seconds in many of his races and become much more respectable with his results. Would it make him a great swimmer – No, but it would provide some self-esteem and he’d start to see some results from his efforts.

#20 (d1/s1): B 13-14 100 Fly (1:22.18Y) – Actually dropped time in this one, .83 seconds as a matter of fact 1:21.35. Unfortunately, he breathed almost every stroke, and his underwater work was weak at best. If he’d limit breathing to every other stroke, he’d drop 4 seconds, and good underwaters, would probably drop 2 or 3 more. (Sigh)

#52 (d1/s1): B 13-14 100 Back (1:12.87Y) – Added time – 1:14.28.

#84 (d1/s1): B 13-14 100 Breast (1:15.87Y) – Added time 1:17.28 – lack of a big dolphin kick on pullouts continues to be a killer for his time.

#116 (d1/s1): B 13-14 100 Free (1:02.92Y) – Added almost a second – 1:03.81.
