I kind of want to see Cats but that's the rare movie I weird feel weird going to alone, and my girlfriend ain't going anywhere near it.

I'm not sure if the backlash is about the premise or about how it's been carried out. It looks like what I'd expect a Cats movie in 2019 to look.

But then I was thinking about how probably my earliest pop culture memory, earliest memory of a "phenomenon" kind of event was Cats. Looking back, I think this was the start of the national tour in Boston in December 1983. So, maybe I'm just not freaked out by weird singing and dancing cat people because when my brain was developing and starting to process such things - that was just part of the world as I was learning about it.
