He did look stupid shooting that gun. And I could maybe see that in another show - the feds already knew about Walt long before, were building a case, and were keeping it from Hank (which would make sense), meanwhile, Hank is independently putting together the pieces himself. But in this show, it doesn't seems to fit as well - it'd be almost like a Vince Russo-swerve (since you'll get that reference), which we haven't really stuff like that yet.
