Sabres Reassign McMorrow and Mancari; Amerks Lose Cunneyworth

Buffalo News
September 21 2005 (Buffalo, NY) -

Buffalo Sabres GM Matt Bosela announced today that forwards Sean McMorrow and Mark Mancari have been reassigned to the Rochester Americans of the AHL.

"Sean will need to work on his footspeed down in Rochester, as the game is moving even faster than ever before with the new rules", Bosela offered. "The days of having a one-dimensional tough guy are over."

Mancari received plenty of praise from Bosela after contributing three goals and an assist in the Prospect Cup. "He's been one of the pleasant surprises of camp, that's for sure", he said. "He is very green still and we're thrilled that he's going to learn the pro game with us in Rochester."

Speaking of the Amerks, Bosela also was unhappy to report that Rochester head coach Randy Cunneyworth has accepted a job with the NHL's Colorado Avalanche as an assistant. In the wake of Cunneyworth's departure, Rochester GM Jody Gage has hired 46 year old American Darryl Williams as his replacement. Williams coached the UHL's Kansas City Outlaws in 2004-05.

"We hope that Mr. Williams is just another in a long line of successful Amerks coaches and trust that he will contribute to our prospects' development in Rochester for years to come", Bosela remarked.
