I'm aware I'm likely asking the dumbest question in the world but I'm really worried about the issue of "home-grown" and "English trained" players for Continental play.

I believe I need four "Dover trained" players and eight "English trained" players for registration purposes. Dumb question: the "Dover trained" players count as English trained, correct? (so they can count for both)

I have very few English trained players on my roster, as I've scoured the International ranks for almost all of my players. In fact, last year, I didn't have one England-born player on my starting eleven but two of them (Arsene Bamba and Zoltan Bardi) at least were trained in England.
