Well, the plan was to land a stud LB, but the guy I was angling for with the trade-down was selected at pick 5, so I took the standout cover man, a globally more important position anyway, in my view.

I end up using three picks on fullbacks and tight ends, thinking I’ll get two TE and one FB, all starters, out of these slots. S Voss looks like he ought to fill up our starting SS role nicely, and that’s another need.

Somehow I’m into round four and I still haven’t drafted a single linebacker. Ugh. I remedy that with a couple run stopper types, but I don’t expect either guy is a long term solution.
