Enos Cabell had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the
Cincinnati Reds in 14 innings 8 to 4 at RIVERFRONT STADIUM.

the game out in the 14th inning. The key at-bat was by Cabell who silenced
the crowd when he lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his 1st of the season). Los

Dave Dravecky had a strong outing and Carmelo Martinez jacked one out of the
ballyard and had 3 RBI at The Astrodome as the San Diego Padres beat the
Houston Astros 5 to 0.
Houston was unable to claim the lead after San Diego went ahead in the 4th
inning as they scored 2 runs on 3 base hits. San Diego banged out 8 on the
afternoon.
Dravecky(5-2) went the distance for the shutout. Bob Knepper(5-5) absorbed the
loss. He pitched 6 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 walks.

The Montreal Expos nipped the Chicago Cubs in 10 innings 4 to 3 at OLYMPIC
STADIUM in a hard fought contest.
The score was tied at 3 after nine. Montreal won the hard fought contest in
the 10th inning. Andre Dawson lined a one-base hit, and an error was also
committed. Tim Wallach stepped up next and he doubled resulting in an
exciting win for Montreal and a raucous post-game celebration by the home
town fans. Montreal had 11 hits for the afternoon.
Tim Burke(3-2) went 3 innings allowing no runs for the victory. George
Frazier(4-2) was charged with the loss in relief. He was unable to retire a
batter and surrendered 2 hits and no walks.

In a close game it was the Philadelphia Phillies 4, the New York Mets 2 at
VETERANS STADIUM.
Philadelphia jumped out to the early lead in the first inning scoring a single
run on 2 hits. New York had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
The winning pitcher was Charles Hudson(3-5) who allowed 2 runs in 8 and 1/3
innings. Hudson was helped out by Kent Tekulve who recorded his 7th save.
Ron Darling(2-6) was tagged with the loss.
Despite losing Davey Johnson was optimistic after the game. 'We'll get over
this one. Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't. Any one
of a dozen little things go different, and we come out on top.'

At THREE RIVERS STADIUM the St. Louis Cardinals put 4 runs on the scoreboard
in the 9th inning and easily handled the Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 6
to 2.
St. Louis had the game winning rally in the 9th inning when they scored 4 runs
on 4 hits. St. Louis out-hit Pittsburgh for the game, 12 hits to 7.
Bill Campbell(2-6) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing
no runs. Cecilio Guante(1-3) was tagged with the loss in relief.
