Northern Division Meet - Day 3

Brett - Prelims

Again, I wasn't there for the prelims of the 100 Breast, and the 200 Fly so comments are second hand from my wife and based on time.

100 Breast - 1:17.71 - Brett really wanted to get an improvement here, especially after he failed to improve in the 200...and he did. He finished with a time of 1:16.93, and qualified for finals

200 Fly - NT - My wife said this wasn't pretty. Brett breathed way to often, but he finished without being DQed, meaning he'll get the IronMan award from the team at the banquet. His time was a 3:04:09

1650 Free - 20:48.55 - Brett really wanted to improve here. He was hoping to go under 12 minutes. He started out fine, but then allowed a swimmer to his outside shoulder to impact his pacing. The swimmer outside of him started fast, and when Brett fell in at his shoulder he stayed there, even though the kid pacing him quickly fell from spits of 1:11 to splits of 1:16. Once Brett broke free, he swam strong 100 splits in the 1:13 range...He was very consistent with his swim, especially in the back half turning laps in the 1:13 mid ranges over and over. Finished with an improvement of 36 seconds...20.11.76

Brett - Finals

100 Breast - 1:16.93 - The 200 Fly and 1650 really took their toll on Brett. He was a walking zombie by the time we got to finals. He added a bunch of time finishing with a 1:20.29

100 Fly - 3:04.09 - Brett really didn't want to swim this one...but he did. And while he was still exhausted and he breathed every stroke, he also managed to drop time. 3:01.54...which tells me he can go much faster in this one if he applys himself. I figure a 2:50 is within reach...
