The Caribbean Estrellas nipped the Negro League II Twos in 13 innings 6 to 5
at Paradise Park in a hard fought contest.
The score was tied at 4 after nine. Caribbean came out the victor in the 13th
inning. After two outs Alejandro Ohms drew a walk. Pablo Mesa followed and
he doubled resulting in an exciting win for Caribbean and a wild post-game
celebration by the home town fans. Negro League II was out-hit by Caribbean,
16 hits to 13.
The win was credited to Lazaro Salazar(3-2) who went 3 innings allowing 1 run.
Chet Brewer(1-6) was the losing pitcher in relief.

47,367 fans were treated to a fine game at Cow Pasture Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Old Timers Ancients won by the
slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.
Dead Ball Era was unable to recover after Old Timers went ahead in the 2nd
inning scoring one runner. After an out was recorded, Buck Ewing drew a
walk. After another out, John Ward came up and he delivered a single scoring
the run. Dead Ball Era made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to
push the needed runs across.
Pud Galvin(8-1) got the win allowing 2 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. Al Spalding
earned the save, his 4th. Ed Walsh(4-7) took the loss. He allowed 1 run and
6 hits in 6 innings.
Old Timers won for the 6th straight time. 'I'm glad to get the win', Galvin
said. 'We've got some good momentum going now.'

Tom Glavine came through with a solid 7 innings and Mike Piazza lofted one
into the 'cheap seats' as the Late 20th Modern Stars topped the slumping
Japanese League HOF Players by a score of 1 to 0 at Free Agent
Field.
Japanese League surrendered what proved to be the only run of the contest when
Late 20th scored in the bottom of the 4th inning. Bruce Sutter was great in
relief and recorded his 5th save.
Glavine(5-2) went 7 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Hideo Nomo(1-5)
suffered the loss. Late 20th continued their winnings ways improving their
record to 24-23. They are 9-1 in their last ten games. Japanese League
continued their losing ways and their record is now 10-36, worst in the
division. They are 0-10 in their last ten games.

Satchel Paige went the distance at Black Diamond Pk where the Negro League I
Ones beat the AL Pre WWII club 7 to 1.
Negro League I promptly took the lead in their half of the first plating an
isolated run utilizing 2 base hits. Negro League I and AL Pre WWII each
finished the afternoon with 9 hits.
Paige(5-3) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Red Faber(2-3) was
charged with the loss. The Negro League I ballclub's record now stands at a
division leading 28-19. AL Pre WWII has a record of 19-26 after the loss.

Right fielder Wee Willie Keeler hit a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Turn of
Century Centurions outscored the Left Outs Leftovers 15 to 8.
The game started off with Turn of Century taking the lead in the first scoring
a single run. After an out was recorded, Keeler single-handedly provided the
offense with a solo home run (his 2nd of the season). Turn of Century bats
were hot in the 8th inning scoring 4 runs. Offensively, Turn of Century was
a juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings.
Addie Joss(3-3) was the winner allowing 8 runs in 8 innings. Robin
Roberts(3-7) was hit with the loss. He was knocked around, surrendering 8
runs in 5 innings.

Jim Palmer held NL Pre WWII scoreless on just 3 hits at Booze Field as the AL
Post WWII ballclub beat the floundering NL Pre WWII team 4 to 0.
Palmer(5-4) escaped virtually unscathed against the NL Pre WWII hitters. He
didn't allow much, just 3 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings. AL Post WWII
finished with just 6 hits in the victory.
Eppa Rixey(5-2) was given the loss. He surrendered 4 runs and 6 hits in 8
innings.

Third baseman Eddie Mathews ripped 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Jim Bunning
finished beautifully as the NL Post WWII club defeated the FOFC All Stars by
a score of 12 to 11 at Big League Field.
Mathews helped send the fans home happy. He cracked a solo homerun in the 5th
inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 13th of the season)
in the 6th inning. This was a game of many highs and lows for the home town
fans, as the lead kept changing - 6 times in all.
The victory was credited to Phil Niekro(2-2) who went 2 innings, allowing 2
runs. Niekro got help from Bunning who earned his 6th save. Bo Knowles(3-1)
absorbed the loss in relief.
