Years ago, I decided to get a throwaway smartphone for international travel (e.g. something I can use to take pics as a tourist without worrying about it being stolen). I think I was in Hong Kong or Bangkok airport where I got a Redmi for like $150.
It worked well enough. Nothing great. I was in Asia earlier this year and was tempted to buy the budget Huawei brand just so I could bring it back into the US and see if it works okay.
So what is your fascination on these offbeat (and questionable quality) brands?
