Weston FC (2-0-1, 4th) vs Wake Forest Cougars (1-1-1, 10th)

Attendance: 758

-- First match with Weston. They have been in this division all three years, struggling at first but last year finished 5th and made the playoffs.

Starting Lineup

GK: Gyan
D: Flores/Pickering/Hernandez/Lacey
M: Tapia/Wilkins
AM: Maurer/Fisher
ST: Roth/Navarro

Full lineup change since we're playign twice a week for awhile. We'll look to counterattack on the road.

3': One of those "accidental" shots that FM14 is well known for, a cross from left mid Semoli for Weston, goes right at the keeper, and Gyan just botches it and gives up the goal. 0-1

4': A long ball by Weston, a ST gets to it, I thought maybe offsides but no, Hernandez tackles it away, but we can't control it, they get a man to it who scores with relative ease. 0-2

10': We work the ball forward, Maurer loses control of it trying to rush into the area, but Roth is there, pokes the ball ahead to Navarro, and Navarro scores! 1-2

21': Tapia with a free kick at the edge of the box, well wide.

22': Really pretty long ball from Wilkins for Roth, Roth is behind the defense but his first touch could be better, he gets a shot off and its a clear cut chance, but saved. He should have scored there.

HALF: A couple missed shots in later highlights but that's really it going into the half, the action was all early. They outshoot us 9-4, but we have more on target (3) and the only 2 clear cut chances of the match. Possession isn't too far off, 53/47 in their favor, and we are better in the air so far. Really if it wasn't for the fluke goal(their first one) this would feel winnable.

Mike Wilkins struggles this half with a 6.1 rating. I bring Glaser in for him at the half.

47': Pickering with a minor injury.

56': Tapia with a nice header in midfield to win possession for us, we build up and pass it around for awhile, Roth ends up hitting NAvarro for our 3rd clear cut chance, but their keeper stops it. We get a corner but that doesn't go anywhere.

58': We have it in midfield when ML Chris Maurer passes backwards towards Pickering, its not a good pass, and Pickering is slowed from being hurt, they get a striker to it first, he charges into the area and beats Gyan 1v1.

61': Ashe is in for Pickering.

63': I give the "exploit the right flank" instruction, Fisher is so much better than Maurer out there, lets favor him. We'll also try to attack and get a goal back.

75': They get a 4th goal on a counterattack as we try to push up to generate pressure. Doh. 1-4

79': They earn a corner, and Lacey is called for a foul on it... penalty, which they score. 1-5

79': Mike Maurer in for Roth.

83': M. Maurer with a shot from the area, just high.

We give up one more goal in the end just for good measure, holy crap.

Assist: Roth (6.7)

Lacey with a 5.2, Flores a 4.7, the rest of the defense and midfield in the 6.0-6.2 range. Really really bad.
