"Drive" is on netflix. I enjoyed it though I thought Gosling's character wasn't cool like Steve McQueen, more like detached and robotic. While I assume that he becoming friendly with the single mom and child allowed him to become more human, I just wasn't buying it.

Still for a noir film, it was beautifully shot, and while the outcome was rather linear(by linear I mean straightforward in its story), it was still enjoyable to me. I did enjoy Albert Brooks as the bad guy (shoulda been nominated) though and man is Ron Perlman an UGLY mofo.

Spoiler So Gosling's character is a man of few words, even to his pal Shannon (played by Bryan Cranston), and he keeps his cool throughout the film save for one part where he gets really angry at Shannon for spilling the beans to the film producer/mob guy. It seemed out of character. I did think Gosling's character took a shine to the kid especially after the kid wore a mask, just like Gosling's driver wears a mask when he's a stunt driver. The use of light was well done in the flick and the gore was over the top.
