Florida State (5-10, 1-3 ACC) at Miami (12-9, 1-4 ACC)

Miami is the worst team in the league. Even on the road, I feel like we really need to win this game. I really don't know if its possible to lose my job this season or not, but taking down Miami and UVA is key if there is going to be any risk.

Miami is rated 79 OVR (78 off/80 def/81 sht/81 reb/86 coach). We have a solid edge everywhere except for coaching. Miami has a couple decent wins, an OT win over a top 25 Indiana team, and a road win at Virginia Tech. They've gotten crushed (by 15 or more) in their other 4 conference games. Seriously, Miami looks like a middle of the road MAC team, no one on their roster anywhere close to an 80 OVR rating, and a SG rated 66 in the starting lineup.

Scouting

PG Quincy Oneil – SO – 70 OVR – 91 speed but only 79 quickness. 82 defense/72 steals. 83 hands/77 passing(C/C+). 76 close/83 med/72 3/81 off the dribble... fairly average all over except the midrange jumper. 3.1 ppg.

SG Truman Culc – FR – 66 OVR – 74 defense, C speed. 79 close/66 med/63 3. This guy is terrible. I haven't coached a team in 5 or 6 seasons that Culc could play for, maybe more than that.

SF Corbin Nevill – JR – 75 OVR – average speed, average defense for a SF, he's a 6'8” natural SF btw. 83 close/73 med/64 3. No other ratings over 80 that will have a thing to do with offense or scoring. 5.5 ppg. He is a fairly highly rated rebounder.

PF Rubin Mombollet – JR – 71 OVR – 6'8” natural PF. 77 orb/74 drb. 89 close/81 in traffic. 70 post off/75 post def. 7.6 ppg, average strength(65), above average shot blocking(72).

C Rex Newman – FR – 76 OVR – Newman was Miami's top recruit last year, #197 OVR. And he's their highest rated player. 88 orb/80 drb. 76 post off/78 post def. 86 close/87 in traffic, he's 6'8” 8.7 ppg/5.4 rpg as a freshman is pretty solid.

They have solid big man depth but obviously no depth at guard. Just a horrible team. But its at their place, so I'm still worried... we really need to secure this win.

Moye is having a real hard time getting going, missing an open 3, and a couple shots going hard to the rim that weren't

Backups are in. Sneed and Moye both are slow to start, though Moye does have 6 now after hitting a 3.

We score 6 straight and go up by 4, McClurkin(bakcup PG, I don't call him out much) scores 4 straight driving to the hoop and then getting a backcourt turnover after their PG falls over trying to drive through our press. Miami TO.

Another Miami timeout, they must feel like its getting away from them. We're not running away with it but we're slowly extending things out.

Still up 7 at the half. We shoot 35%, but hold Miami to 33%. Its a very rough half for the two guys I'm asking to carry our offense. Moye scores 10, but its on 4-11 shooting. Sneed is scoreless and 0-5 from the floor. Forte/Ozier/Locklier aren't really helping. Ozier is a big mystery to me. His numbers are decent but I have a hell of a time getting him shots that seem good.

Miami has 7 from their freshman center, Newman and 5 from a couple other starters.

Miami with the first 4 to cut it to 3 but we get it back and are right back up 7. Locklier answers the call for someone to step up and start scoring, picking up our first 6 of the half, he has 10 now.

Ugh, 5 very quick points and we trail by 1, I go ahead and get my backups in a bit early, Moye and Sneed are still terrible, and Locklier misses his next couple shots. Alloway to the rescue... hopefully.

We pulled back ahead and they've scored 4 straight to trigger a 6th man bonus and tie the game. I get a timeout to cool things off.

Quick run by us mainly thanks to Alloway and we lead by 6. I get the starters back in for the stretch run.

Alloway with another bucket as he was out there with the starters thanks to a missed free throw during the substitutions. Alloway is now leading us with 16 points and i'm seriously considering bringing him in at PG or SF after a few minutes rest.

Sneed is on the board, his first two points of the game with under 5 to play.

Sneed with his 4th points of the game and Miami calls a timeout. I bring Alloway in for Ozier, Ozier has just been unable to get good shots lately, Alloway gives me another major threat to drive to the basket.

Alloway with an assist to Moye, and then with a 3 and we're up to a 10 point lead and look to have things wrapped up.

Of course I say its probably wrapped up and they knock down 5 in a row.

We go inside to Sneed to get it back up to 7.

We seal the deal at the line and get a much needed win over a team we should beat.

Florida State 74
Miami 64

This must have been miserable for the fans... but I guess that is the norm for Miami fans by now anyway. We shoot 41% for the game, Miami 38%.

They get 14 from their SF Nevill, and 13 from C Newman, their two highest rated players. Their 66 rated SG scores 7, on 3-13 shooting.

Forte: 5 points
Moye: 16 points
Ozier: 3 points/5 boards
Sneed: 7 points/6 boards
Locklier: 12 points/11 boards

Alloway: 19 points
Sanders: 6 points/6 boards
