#20 North Carolina(16-6, 3-5 ACC) at Florida State (6-12, 2-5 ACC)

North Carolina is rated 91 OVR (91 off/92 def/96 sht/91 reb/89 coach). After a rough 4 game stretch(including losses at Boston College and Va Tech, both top 25 teams) the get a 25 point win over Ga Tech to finish off last week.

UNC had an 89 rated PG leave for the NBA early last year and they replace him with the #1 recruit in the nation. They've also got the #5 recruit in the nation starting at SF for them...

Scouting

PG Craig Hoskin – FR – 84 OVR – 9.1 ppg/2.6 apg. 93 speed/84 quickness. 89 defense/90 steals. 87 hands/80 passing. 88 close/80 med/89 3/81 off the dribble... 89 3 point shot as a true freshman, holy shit. A+ potential. I don't know how well this game handles 1 and done but the draft buzz around Hoskin is that he is a lottery pick this year.

SG Russ Haigler – JR – 88 OVR – 15.2 ppg. 89 speed/89 quickness. 82 defense/82 steals. PG level ball handler and passer (91/83 A/A- for a SG). 84 close/86 med/90 3. only 78 off the dribble, surprisingly low given eerything else.

SF Phil Atangana – FR – 84 OVR – 90 speed/82 quickness. 82 defense/88 steals. 87 close/75 med/72 3/84 off the dribble. Atangana is actually a natural SF, but he's 6'6”. 7.2 ppg.

PF Marcel Konate – JR – 90 OVR – 6'6” PF – 16.4 ppg/6.0 rpg. 82 orb/88 drb. 86 post off/90 post def. 94 close/87 in traffic. Additionally he has the speed of a SF and the mid range and 3 point shot of a guard. Coach on the floor this year too... If he leaves early he'll be a first round pick. I dream of a big man this talented one day. I assure you he'll score more than 16 per game.

C Quinton Diame - JR – 71 OVR – holy crap, 7'3”!! not skilled at all. No ratings over 80 except his close rnage shot which is 87. But holy crap, 7'3!

Their starting SF last year had to take a seat behind Atangana... SF Erick Starkey is rated 82 overall, and backup SG Eddie Esterkamp is rated 83.

Well if Moye is going to hit 3's we have a chance. He's 3-4 so far against their 3-2 zone(remember... ball state head coach... this is the same annoying 3-2 defense I faced while at Ohio for years).

Moye is 5-7 from 3. Sneed adds a bucket inside. Backups are in. We have no turnovers, are forcing a couple and shooting great.

McClurkin, a 75 rated 3 point shooter after his confidence boost in game, is 2-2 from 3. UNC takes a timeout.

They start scoring seemingly at will, we turn it over twice which doesn't lead to dunks but doens't help. Starters are back in.

Moye went cold from 3, the rest of our points(all 6 of them) come inside, 4 from Sneed/4 from locklier. We're 12-23 overall, 7-14 from 3. Moye is 5-11.

They get 8 from Konate, their stud PF. No one else has more than 4. UNC is 12-21, 1-3 from 3.

We need to keep hitting 3's, maybe not at a 5-7 rate, but at 1-3 or better, if we want to win this game.

It takes a bit but Moye heats back up again, he's hit our last 8 points including 2 3's, and UNC takes a timeout.

I get a timeout, mainly to leave my starters out for another minute or two before I have to sub.

Ok, enough delay, the backups come in. Moye is going to end up with a career high in a game where we may not even score 60.

Alloway with a 3, 11 point game again! The defense has been incredible... or UNC is just having the most off night ever.

All starters but Moye back in, Moye needs another minute or so. Alloway with all 7 points in that stretch to keep us going.

After a turnover in the backcourt allows a quick 5-0 run from UNC, I get a timeout and get Moye back in.

Still up 7 with 2 ½ to go. Moye has a career high now.

They get two free throws, we get a jumper by Sneed, they get a quick look inside... our ball up 5, we can take it to a minute or so.

They tip it out of Moye's hands, he recovers but shoots a bad 3 as the shot clock expires. Its no good, but we get the board!!

We run it down again and get another offensive board after a miss! They obviously foul now. Forte hits 1 of 2, 6 point game.

They hit a 3.

After they hit a 3, they foul forte on the inbounds. He misses the front end of a 1 and 1. I decide to foul instead of letting them take a 3. They make the first, miss the second, Konate gets the offensive board and putback for a tie game. There's 2.6 seconds left on the clock. I inbounds it to midcourt and call a timeout.

I get the ball into Forte, immediately hit Moye, he takes a 3 and its GOOD as time expires!!!!!

Florida State 63
North Carolina 60

I cannot tell you how many times I tried to do this against Ball State with Ohio. Just have my best 3 point shooters launch threes, there's so many holes in that damn 3-2 zone. But it never, ever worked, until now.

They get 16 from Atangana nad 10 from Hoskin, their two top 5 recruits. Haigler, Konate, Diame, and backup SF Starkey all score 8. They end up 25-49, 5-11 from 3, 5-6 from the line.

Forte: 1 point/3 boards/7 assists
Moye: 35 points
Ozier: 0 points/6 boards
Sneed: 10 points/5 boards
Locklier: 2 points

Alloway: 7 points
McClurkin: 6 points

Moye is 9-20 from 3. Alloway 2-3, McClurkin 2-2. We shoot 13-27 from 3 and beat UNC! This is my second true buzzer beater win. The last one was after I gave up a lead in the final 5 seconds too if I remember correctly.
