Miami (14-15, 3-10 ACC) at Florida State (8-16, 4-9 ACC)

We beat Miami by 10 at their place and expect to win here. A win would go a long way towards keeping us out of the bottom couple spots of the ACC this year(we're very unlikely to finish 12th really but I'd like to finish 8th or 9th if possible).

Miami has improved to 80 OVR since we played last. 79 off/80 def/81 sht/82 reb/86 coach. By comparison we have now improved to 86 OVR. 85 off/85 def/87 sht/88 reb/84 coach.

Scouting

PG Quincy Oneil – SO – 70 OVR – 91 speed but only 79 quickness. 82 defense/72 steals. 83 hands/77 passing(C/C+). 76 close/83 med/72 3/81 off the dribble... fairly average all over except the midrange jumper. 3.7 ppg/1.7 apg

SG Truman Culc – FR – 67 OVR – 74 defense, C speed. 79 close/66 med/63 3. This guy is terrible. I haven't coached a team in 5 or 6 seasons that Culc could play for, maybe more than that. He's managing 7.7 ppg nontheless.

SF Corbin Nevill – JR – 75 OVR – average speed, average defense for a SF, he's a 6'8” natural SF btw. 83 close/73 med/64 3. No other ratings over 80 that will have a thing to do with offense or scoring. 6.1 ppg/3.6 rpg

PF Rubin Mombollet – JR – 72 OVR – 6'8” natural PF. 77 orb/74 drb. 89 close/81 in traffic. 70 post off/75 post def. 7.6 ppg, average strength(65), above average shot blocking(72). 7.3 ppg/3.0 rpg

C Rex Newman – FR – 76 OVR – Newman was Miami's top recruit last year, #197 OVR. And he's their highest rated player. 88 orb/80 drb. 76 post off/78 post def. 86 close/87 in traffic, he's 6'8” 8.9 ppg/5.2 rpg

Backups are in. Ozier is a real liability here, he's getting out one on one in transition consistently but just cannot get by Nevill, their SF.

We're not getting a lot out of Alloway(2 points 1-4 shooting) but we get a couple buckets elsewhere and extend the lead a bit, Miami timeout.

Alloway with a dunk in traffic, and he draws a foul. And he comes out injured. Moye comes in to take the free throw for him.

And I get a timeout to get Moye out until he's fully rested. 3rd string guard Jose Gunn comes in. He's averaging 1.4 ppg in simmed games this year. 69 OVR, not good.

HALF

Miami scores 4 in the final minute of the half to make it a 3 point game. We shoot 48%, Miami 44%, both teams have 1 3, we in 4 attempts, they in 6 attempts.

SF Nevill has 7 for Miami, and PG Oneil has 6. A few others with 4. Forte leads us with 9, he's got our only 3 and has been able to drive with some good success. Moye has 7, and a few others have 4. Locklier is 0-4 and has not scored, he's struggled a good deal inside, though he does have 6 boards.

Backups are in. We get ahead 6, they cut it down, etc. Forte and Moye both have 11 but we're really not playing great to start off the half.

After miami ties it we get 4 straight, the second on a steal and race to the hoop for a nice reverse dunk by Barrett... he beat a Miami big man down the court to get the open lane. We get a 6th man boost and Miami takes a TO.

6 straight by the starters to get back out ahead by 9. Forte has 15 and did a great job creating 2 shots for himself, then finding Ozier for a bucket.

They hit a 3... their big man, mombollet, hits a 3, and its a 6 point game with 3 ½ to go.

We get a steal and burn the clock but cannot score. We miss a bad jumper by Ozier that lets them get out on the break for a layup... our ball up 4.

I start my offense with 20 left on the shot clock... just 2 possessions isn't enough to intentionally stall all the way. But I don't get a good look right away and end up feeding the post. Sneed hits a hook shot with 2 seconds left on the shot clock to put us up 6.

They foul twice before they hit their 7th, sending Moye to the line. He misses the front end but Locklier gets the clutch offensive board! He hits his first, misses the second but we're up 2 possessions now.

They miss a 3 and Locklier gets a board to seal the victory.

Florida State 71
Miami 65

Miami ends up with 12 from PG Oneil and 11 from backing forward Sanders, they get balanced scoring all over really but just shoot way too poorly to win.

Forte: 15 points (7-11 FG)
Moye: 15 points
Ozier: 8 points
Sneed: 8 points/7 boards
Locklier: 3 points/11 boards

Alloway: 8 points

Locklier was huge on the boards, but shot 0-7 inside. Sneed was just 3-7. Forte really had a lot of success driving to the basket today. Moye was 0-3 from 3, all his points came from attacking the rim as well.
