As far as staff goes. Depending on your training, you want 10 total of assistant or goalkeeper coaches, either 8 and 2, or 9 and 1. I keep 10 spokespersons but I have lots of money, that might not be what you want to do. As far as the youth academy, I'd say it's probably half and half. The problem with starting a YA is that you have to wait an entire season from the time you open it to pull a player. With the other you can pull the same week, even if the player pulled will likely suck.
They attempt to keep new players from making huge mistakes and quiting because of those mistakes, by making new managers do the manager's liscense. It's not that hard, but yes it does take some time to get full control of your team.
