Random Rhodes story: back in the college visit days here, kid figured he might as well take a look at Rhodes while doing his western swing, being in the vicinity already & all.
Wife is driving and as it happened, they entered/approached campus near the football stadium. Kid turns to wife and says "keep driving".
Wife: "Huh"
Kid: "That's their stadium ... it's smaller than Slaughter Field" (his HS venue)
Kid: "Drive on"
And that was the story of his Rhodes 'visit'
(solid academically, no slight to Rhodes as an institution ... but for him coming from a very small HS a college that small wasn't on his list.)
