-Pre-Show Dark Match
Nikita Koloff defeats Jose Lothario in 9:56 by pinfall. (C-)

-Pre-Show Dark Match
King Kong Bundy defeats Tommy Rodgers in 3:50 by pinfall. (C)

-The new WCCW World Heavyweight Champion, Michael Hayes comes to the ring, showing off his new belt to the crowd. He grabs a mic, tells them that success in wrestling isn't all headlocks and body slams - it's intelligence too. And Hayes says that his brain is mostly responsible for his new title. Hayes also says that his intelligence will also help him retain the title. Unlike "moron" champions like David Von Erich, Hayes says he'll only defend the title once every 30 days, the minimum required under WCCW bylaws. Hayes says he's handpicked his first challenger, and he will defend the title tonight - against Owen Hart. (C-). Fritz Von Erich comes to the ring. He says he'll deal with Hayes in a second, but first, he announces a 10-man battle royal to take place tonight. The winner will get a shot at Kevin Von Erich's TV title tomorrow night at the TV Taping. (D+). Fritz then directs his attention towards Hayes. Fritz says that personally, he feels the way Hayes won the title is "crap". Further, Hayes is the first champion in the history of WCCW who didn't earn his title with a pinfall or submission. Fritz says that the WCCW board of directors has called an emergency meeting for tonight, the results of which will be announced at the TV taping tomorrow. But for now, Fritz says he's not allowing any title defenses. Hayes' match with Owen Hart will be non-title. (C+)

-Non-title match
Michael Hayes defeats Owen Hart in 6:39 by pinfall. (C-)

-Kevin, Kerry, and David Von Erich come to the ring to hype their Six-Man Tag Team Title defense tonight against Gary Hart's stable: King Kong Bundy, Brian Adias, and Villano III. They also say that Mike suffered a concussion as a result of the "mystery" attack last week, and he'll be out of action for a few weeks. (C-)

-Iceman Parsons came to the ring and hyped his upcoming match with Ted Dibiase. (C)

-Ted Dibiase defeats Iceman Parsons in 9:42 by pinfall. (C+) After the match, Ted Dibiase cuts a promo, bragging about his dominance thus far in WCCW. Arman Hussein is by his side. (B-)

-10-Man Battle Royal
-Winner gets TV title shot
Jimmy Garvin wins the Battle Royal in 10:31. The last 3 men were Garvin, Ricky Morton, and Buddy Roberts. The 2 members of the Freebirds initially tried to double-team Morton, but an argument between them allowed Morton to eliminate Roberts. Other participants in the match were King Kong Bundy, Super Kendo, Chris Adams, Brian Adias, Buddy Landell, Tommy Rodgers, and Iceman Parsons. (C-). After the match, Jimmy Garvin celebrates in the ring. (D)

-Sunshine comes to the ring with a T-shirt gun, shooting souveinirs into the crowd. (C-)

-Gary Hart's stable comes to the ring for their title shot. Before the match, Gary Hart announces that the contracts have been signed, Villano III will face Tiger Mask in a mask v. mask match at WCCW's Last Man Standing show at the end of the month. (C-)

-WCCW Six-Man Tag Team Championship
The Von Erichs defeat Brian Adias, King Kong Bundy, and Villano III in 24:54 when David pinned Adias. The Von Erichs make their 2nd defense of their titles. Bundy and Adias were exhausted by the end of the match. (C+)

Overall Show Rating: C

THOUGHTS

-Pretty bad show, but at least we were in the midwest, so our popularity might still have a modest increase there. Nothing really bombed, but we didn't have any really good segments. The highest rated thing on the whole show was Dibiase's promo. But hopefully the show gave our some guys on our roster the chance to increase their overness in the midwest.

-The biggest isssue with the midwest for us is that even though over popularity there is gaining on our Texas popularity, the Von Erichs still aren't really a big deal there (except for David), as evidenced by their C- promo there tonight. And tonight's show was further handicapped by the fact that our most popular guys in the midwest weren't featured (Backlund, Adonis, Eaton, Ware).

-For a brief time, I considered having Hayes defend the title against Hart, and have David actually cost Hayes the title. One angle I've never seen in wrestling is the "out of his league fluke world champion" (I don't count Vince Russo), and aftermath where the entire roster is scrambling for that first title shot. But here, I've gone with a more sensible solution that will be announced at the TV taping.
