-Fritz Von Erich comes out to make two announcements as the show starts. First, he says a lot of people have been asking about the status of the Six-Man Tag Team Championship after Kerry threw his belt in a trash can a few weeks ago at Last Man Standing. Fritz says he's officially stripping Kerry of his title, however, he's not stripping the Von Erichs of the belts as whole. He says that David and Kevin will defend the belts, with Mike as their 3rd partner, against the Freebirds at the TV taping tomorrow. If the Von Erichs can successfully defend the belts, Mike will recognized as 1/3 of the six-man tag team champions. (C) Also Fritz announces that tonight's match between Roddy Piper & Sheepherder Luke Williams will be a WCCW World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Qualifying Match - the winner will be the 7th man to qualify for the 12-man tournament. (C)

-Piper's Pit
Roddy Piper comes out to his Piper's Pit set. He first hypes his upcoming match with Luke Williams, and he promises that he'll win and qualify for the tournament. Next, he introduces his guest - David Von Erich. Piper asks David the tough questions about his family, particularly, Kerry. David said the whole family is in disarray - they thought they had worked things out with Kerry, and then everything just fell apart at Last Man Standing. David says he has no idea where Kerry is right now, but he's heard rumors that he's gone to Japan or Mexico. David says that all that he, Kevin, and Mike can do is to look forward, and focus on the future. (C+)

-As David leaves the Piper's Pit Stage, Skandor Akbar approaches with his client, Luke Williams. Akbar hypes his client's upcoming match with Piper. (C+).

-WCCW World Heavyweight Championship Tournament - Qualifying Match
Roddy Piper defeats Luke Williams in 11:48 by submission. (C+)

-Kevin Von Erich cut a promo hyping his upcoming match with Terry Gordy. Kevin says its been a tough week for him, with the Kerry situation, and losing the TV Title to Buddy Roberts last week. But Kevin says that things can turn around very quickly with the support of the fans, and a win tonight against Terry Gordy. (B-)

-Terry Gordy defeats Kevin Von Erich in 21:40 by submission. (B+)

-Michael Hayes cut a promo hyping his match with Mike Von Erich. He notes that the Freebirds are 1/3 of the way towards a clean sweep of the Von Erichs tonight. (C)

-Michael Hayes defeats Mike Von Erich in 6:46 by pinfall. (C). Mike was tiring towards the end of the match.

-Buddy Jack Roberts defeats David Von Erich in 13:31 by pinfall in a tainted victory, following interference from Terry Gordy and Michael Hayes. Kevin Von Erich also got involved in the match. (B). Roberts was limited by injury. After the match, the Freebirds celebrated their 3-for-3 night against the Von Erichs. (C+)

-Overall Show Rating: B-

THOUGHTS:

-Good show, even though we sent a lot of Von Erich fanatics home sad.

-I thought that David might use his creative control clause to veto losing to Roberts tonight, but he didn't. I'm not sure exactly what the criteria for use of that clause is, but I'm glad David wasn't too strict with us here. This was the 6th David/Roberts 1-on-1 match, and this was their second-best (they had a B+ TV match in January).

-Mike Von Erich and Michael Hayes had their first ever 1-on-1 match. Von Erich doesn't have the same chemistry with Hayes as he does with Gordy.

-The match of the night though, was Kevin/Gordy. These two feuded over the American Heavyweight Title last year, and this was their 5th match (and their best)

-We're now up to 7 guys in the big tournament: Gordy, Hayes, David, Backlund, Dibiase, Buddy Roberts, Piper. We'll have the whole field of 12 setup by next week.

-Jose Lothario showed his value, carrying Al Perez to a C+ match. Perez has wrestled 30 matches for us, and this was only his 3rd to reach C+. The other two were with David Von Erich, and Manny Fernandez. So that's pretty good company for Lothario.
