Fatuma Roy has left ECW and gone back to Gamma, no real loss here, he was only a gatekeeper for us and won’t be missed after going 1-1 with ECW.

Extensions/resigning: Wilson Franklyn resigns with us for 5 fights at $8,000 per fight, Carl Ratcliffe signs a 5 extension at $1,900 per fight, Adrian Pascal pens a 5 fight extension at $7,500 per fight, John Fitzwallace 3 fights at $1,000 per fight and Blaze Weeks 3 fights at $800 per fight.

We sign our first lightweight as Carl Chenowith inks a 5 fight deal worth $1,200 per fight, followed closely by fourteen more, including Sammy Newton, Aaron McBroom, Vince Dahl, Darren Southall and Nicky Shapiro among others.

Gamma comes after Guy Broom and Jerry Bogdonovich, Broom is not as important as J-Bog, who I will go to extreme lengths to keep. Guy Broom doesn’t even need a counter from Gamma and accepts over 2,000 less per fight to join the evil empire, while after a couple of back and forths we retain the services of Jerry Bogodovich, who will now make $8,000 a fight for his next 5 outings.

Mateo Jane, 0-3 as a middleweight asks to go down to Welter so he can take some beatings there, I oblige.

ECW 17: Christmas Clash - December 28th, 2002 - California
Main Event - ECW Welterweight Title
WWFelix Mattherson Jr. 10-1 © vsAgustin Gonzalez 16-5
Mattherson comes streaking from the corner and gets Gonzalez to the mat within the first 30 seconds, from there it is a tactical battle for position, that sees Mattherson eventually pass guard and secure mount, where he deftly gets Gonzalez trapped in an arm triangle.Gonzalez fights the submission, refusing to tap and eventually going limp as the referee quickly forces Mattherson to relinguish the hold as the challenger lays unconcious on the mat.Mattherson retains his ECW Welterweight strap in impressive fashion!
Felix Mattherson beats Agustin Gonzalez by tech submission (arm triangle) in 2:14 of rd 1 (Great)
Undercard
HWWilson Franklyn 12-2 beats Leon Banks 33-15 by unanimous decsion 29-28, 30-27, 30-27 (Good)
No love lost between these two as the brawling Franklyn controls the infighting, snatching the win over the Gamma vet
LHDwayne Allenye 10-1 beats Wink Deschanel 7-1 by unanimous decision 30-27, 29-28, 30-27 (Decent)
This battle of wrestlers is decided on the feet as Alleyne lands over twice as many blows as Deschanel and rattles him
WWJoe Hinchcliffe 26-15 beats Randy Carsley 8-1 by unanimous decision 30-27, 30-26, 30-27 (Good)
The Kick Boxer holds his own on the ground and easily wins the standup, with the final bell saving him from an arm bar
MWBilly Russell 7-1 beats Timothy McNally 8-2 by submission (rear naked choke) in 1:54 of rd 1 (Good)
McNally continues to be little more than hype as Russell walks through him, takes his back and puts him to sleep
Preliminarys
Linton Berry beats Colin McCoffee, Brayden Behrami beats Pete Shilton, Ed Burridge beats Crushin Moe Muschin

Fight of the night - Mattherson/Gonzalez, KO of the night - Berry, Submission of the night - Russell
Wrap up
Wow is all that can describe Mattherson's dismantling of Gonzalez, as he defeats an accomplished catch wrestler with ease, setting up a big money fight against either Chad Zoff or Gus Fitzpatrick in his next outing.Alleyne seems much more comfortable at the higher weight and can now be considered a contender at light heavyweight after smartly escaping the middleweights and Isaiah Monroe.A surprising drop in attendance and get in what had been our hottest state, though the main event was arguably not our most awe inspring on paper, though Mattherson's performance may change that next time he headlines. We come out $164,044 ahead on the show, and I drop McNally to Welterweight
