Because my initials are M. IJ. B. and not M. I. J. B.
The IJ combination stands for IJsbrand, a very uncommon first name. The name starts with a letter unique to the Dutch language, the y with dots, which makes it look like an ij combination.
I'm proud of having that name, yet even Dutch organizations have a hard time recognizing our language's unique character as something official.
In my daily life, I've seen my initials as M.Y.B., as M.I.B. and even M.I.J.B., but the only correct way to write them is M.IJ.B., which is what I will use any day of my life.
