Summer League - GRPA State Championships - PRELIM RESULTS

Bailey

14U 200 Yard Medley Relay - FCT C Team- Fly Leg (2:06.53) - 8th seed - A pretty good swim from the C team, Bailey's split was a ok 29.5...the team dropped around 3.5 seconds and finished prelims in 7th place.

14U 50 Yard Fly - (29.59) - 12th - Bailey managed to drop an eyeblink here and she finished with a 29.22. However, it was only good enough to finish 11th.

Bear

14U 100 Yard Freestyle - (56.90) - 6th - Bear looked real strong in his prelim swim. He managed to stay close to his buddy Riley and he finished with a 55.73...good enough to stay in 6th place.

14U 200 Yard Free Relay - FCT C Team (1:47.73) - 7th - Bear's relay was a little stressful. One of the swimmers, who only made this race, didn't show up until right before the team was to hit the pool. He was so late that Brett had suited up and prepared to swim in his place. The team manged to drop a little time on their seed, but they slipped to 8th, still good enough to make finals. Bear's split was a 25.71, better than 3 of the 4 B team swimmers (though the leadoff leg split would have been close to Bear if you factor in the rolling start).

Brett

14U 200 Yard Medley Relay FCT C Team- Breast Leg - (2:03.03) - 9th - Unfortunately for Brett, the backstroker that was supposed to be in this relay elected not to do this meet, and his replacement was about 3 seconds slower...that really hurt their chances. In fact, after that change was factored in, this C team was only not faster than some B teams, they weren't even the fastest C team of the last several years. This medley started off good with the backstroker keeping pace with the middle of the pool, but into and out of the turn, he completely lost connection. Brett swam an ok 34 mid split. The flyer and the freestyler didn't make up much ground and the team finished 10th...out of finals.

14U 50 Yard Breaststroke - (34.09) - 15th - - Brett's pullout in this one was really good...but he seemed to have about 4 or 5 strokes through the race that just didn't have the explosion he needed. He did post a slight improvement with a 33.97...but it was only good enough for 11th.
