Stu Hixon Swim Meet @ Mt View Aquatic Center 6/29-30

The second half of the swim equation for this weekend is the Stu Hixon meet. The decisions between summer league county championships and the year round meet are tough. We are running out of year round meets to swim before the state meet, and Bailey and Bear have a couple of decent shots at getting a cut, and Brett is barely hanging on to his spot on the A relay. There is only 1 more meet after this one and it is so close to the state meet that the coaches really don’t want the kids swimming in it unless they are going for a cut. To make matters worse, some of the events we need to swim are on Saturday…meaning we miss that opportunity.

The Stu Hixon meet is also a prelim/final meet, that will be handing out medals for top 3 finishers. Remember one of Brett’s biggest goals is to get a year round medal…well he’s seeded fourth in the 200 free, and he would be fourth in the 100 free to, but it is on Saturday. We are really wrestling with the idea of trying to get him over to the meet on Saturday so he can swim the 100 Breast, we just aren’t sure we can get there on time, and we aren’t sure he’ll have the energy to swim well anyway. It would take a huge improvement, a DQ by a top 3 swimmer, or a scratch by a top 3 swimmer in the breaststrokes for Brett to get a metal, but it isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

Just trying to do what’s in the kids best interest…we’ll see how this plays out…

50 Fly – 38.31
50 Breast – 50.42
400 Free – 6:16.92

Bear

50 Fly – 43.29
50 Free – 36.35
50 Breast – 53.58

Brett

50 Fly – 47.64
50 Free – 36.54
200 Breast - 3:24.17

We may try to deck enter the kids on Friday afternoon in the 200 back…as it seems like a good shot for the twins to get a cut…
