Yeah, I don't have any of that either. I kind of just assume if I die, my wife will get everything. If we both die, the kids will be beneficiaries of whatever. Both sets of parents are still around, so someone would be around to figure things out, I guess. Once they go - my wife's parents, more so - then we will really have to get things in order. Until then, it hasn't been that much of a concern.

Maybe your colleagues don't have many assets? We have basically the house and 401k. I'm probably naive, but I figure those would be easy enough to sort out.

While the kids were little, I think the assumption was that my wife's sister would assume caretaker responsibilities. Both kids are in college now; if we died, I'm not sure what would happen with tuition, etc.

Burial plots? Just cremate me and be done with it.
