Week 5
Atlanta 4-0 @ Carolina 0-4
So far this season, we have only played one game in which the opponent had any wins at the time we played them. That is not going to change today as we face the collapsing Panthers. We shouldn't have any trouble topping this team and covering the 14 point spread.

Leland had nothing less than a terrible day. Fortunately it came against such a bad team that the rest of my guys were able to pick up the slack to ensure that we would win the game 23-14. Nixon finished with 81 yards rushing 1 TD and 1 fumble. It took him 29 carries to do so, giving him an average of 2.7 yards per carry for the game. That will not help him reach his goal for the year.

One significant note: Late in the third quarter, on a 2 yard dive, Leland Nixon surpassed 10,000 yards rushing for his career. Early in the fourth quarter he was tackled for a 3 yard loss, dropping him below 10,000 yards. Then on the next drive he crossed over 10,000 yards again. How many players get to surpass 10,000 yards rushing twice?

Another significant note: With this win today, the team's all time record is now 209-209-3. The team no longer has a losing record!

Week 6
Minnesota 3-2 @ Atlanta 5-0
So far, we have yet to play a team with a winning record this season. Each team that we have faced looks to be competing for who will be last in their division at this point. This week that changes as we face a decent team for the first time this year.

We are still heavily favored in this one, but I don't think that it will be so easy for us. Minnesota has some great players on their roster, starting with their QB. He looks to be a star in the making with the ability to single-handedly will his team to victory.

Leland ran the ball well between the 20s, but re really struggled trying to score from the red zone. Instead we were forced to settle for field goals, which nearly cost us the game. But in the end we did what had to be done to overcome our adversity. We kicked a late field goal to take a 16-14 lead, and our defense did the rest to assure us of another victory.

Nixon finished the game with 143 yards rushing, but no TDs and 1 fumble in 34 carries.
