SirFozzie posted this info in my thread:
"Ok.. you ran into the 2nd type of player you can sign: Unprotected Contracts.
Bosman=end of contract time.. Over 23 or 25=no compensation
Long-term contracts:To prevent a team from signing a player to a long term deal and then watching the player make it huge and then refusing to renegotiate, the rule is that two or three years after the contract begins (depending on when the contract was signed), the player becomes "unprotected" meaning that anyone can sign them for a tribunal decided (usually large) fee.
To prevent your players from leaving on this kind of deal, sign them to shorter contracts and if you do go long term, resign them after 2-3 years
there's no age thing on the 2nd part Desnudo.
Ah.. here it is.
Contracts signed before a player turns 28=Player can breach his contract and sign elsewhere for a fee after 3 years
Contract signed AFTER a player turns 28=Player can breach his contrac and sign elsewhere for a fee after two years"
So basically, Unprotected doesn't necesarily mean Bosman. I believe it specifically says Leaving on Bosman if the player has declared for one. I'm not positive on that part though.
