Group E, Round 3, Game 3

Atlanta at Chicago Cubs

Starting Pitchers

Jair Jurrjens (ATL) vs. Carlos Zabrano (CHC)

Game Recap

Atlanta- 2, Chicago Cubs- 1 -- Tremendous pitching in this one, as Carlos Zambrano worked into the 8th. Unfortunately, Atlanta had to go to bullpen by committee as Jurrjens left with injury in the bottom of the 4th. Jason Heyward got a tough RBI in the top of the 4th, being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Joe Mather followed that up with an infield single, accounting for the 2 Atlanta runs. Alfonso Soriano had a solo homer in the bottom of the 7th, but aside from that, the Atlanta bullpen was nails, giving up just 2 hits in 5 1/3 innings. The only other hit they gave up was a double by Aramis Ramirez to lead off the bottom of the 9th. After that, Craig Kimbrel induced a ground ball to first, got a strikeout, and ended the game getting a ground ball to third.
